OLED displays are extremely sensitive to any amount of water vapor permeation.

The slightest exposure to moisture will significantly decrease its shelf life. A water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of 1x10-6 g/(m• day) has become the accepted industry standard to achieve a device lifetime of at least 10,000 hours.

Measuring a WVTR this low is extremely difficult, particularly with instruments that require calibration.

This paper discusses a method of measuring WVTR at the low levels required by the industry. View the paper in the Related Resources column.
